Dog Intelligence - Biologists Test Canine Ability to Learn

The standard trained canine house pet knows what around 165 words mean. It can use its muzzle to operate a touch screen, and can even differentiate between photographs and paintings.

But how much can dogs really learn, and are there ways of encouraging the overall development of intelligence? To find out, researchers at the University of Vienna have set up the "Clever Dog Lab". The biologists hope it will shed light on the limits of training, and eventually have an impact on how for example guide dogs are trained.
