And no wonder - Afrobeats, which pairs West African musical elements with hip-hop, dancehall or house music, is great to dance to.

For the music industry, the global trend from Africa is rapidly turning into a goldmine - while amplifying the continent's cultural identity.
Initially completely apolitical, some Afrobeats artists have started to use their popularity to take a stand. After scandals involving police violence in Nigeria, for example, musicians defended the victims.

This film takes us on the road with notable Afrobeats artists. We visit their musical homeland, Nigeria, and also Kenya, where East African musical offshoots are forming.
